The Painter from Podunk
In 1924, Lloyd Sawhill was born in Podunk, Iowa — a town whose borders encompassed just a single acre of land. Although raised on a farm, Lloyd was unable to work the land due to having polio as a child. Over the years he became a career metal fabricator. In his 30’s he started to paint, and he continued painting for the next 60 years. His subjects of choice were horses, especially draft horses. This book celebrates his life’s work, his love of horses, farms, and the pioneering spirit.
